The Philippine Educational Theater Association

The Philippine Educational Theater Association has been holding Let’s Get Creative classes on Fridays on their Facebook Live. Their past sessions have covered everything from storytelling techniques, harmony at home and DIY arts and crafts to handmade soap making, creating a character through makeup and improve for everyone. To see upcoming schedules, visit PETA’s Instagram account @petatheater.

Love going to the theater? Universal just launched a YouTube channel called The Shows Must Go On! Every Friday at 7 p.m. BST (that’s 2 a.m. Saturday for us in the Philippines), the channel will release one full-length smash-hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical for you to enjoy for 48 hours. The first show will be “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat” followed by “Jesus Christ Superstar”. The Metropolitan Opera has been streaming operas nightly. Check out Broadwayhd.com for shows you can watch as well.

BroadwayWorld.com has been offering living room concerts while the YouTube channel The Actors Fund has also been gathering stars of the stage and the screen like Kristin Chenoweth, Lea Salonga, Josh Gad, Billy Porter and more for live performances. And if you want to watch Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of “Hamilton” surprise a young fan who missed out on watching the show because of the coronavirus, check out the second episode of Some Good News with John Krasinski on YouTube. (Warning: you might cry.)

Itching to travel? You can still get a dose of culture while quarantined, passport not required. Go on virtual tours of the Louvre, the Sistine Chapel and Vatican museums, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. Google Arts and Culture also takes you inside museums including The Museum of Modern Art, the British Museum, the Guggenheim and so many more. And it’s not just museums, Google can take you to a variety of landmarks too including Machu Picchu, the Stonehenge and more. You can also visit the United States’ national parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone.

Do you miss watching concerts? A lot of other artists are playing private concerts in their homes too. Elton John hosted the iHeart Living Room Concert for America featuring Billie Eilish, Sam Smith and other performers. There’s MTV Unplugged at Home and, locally, Ryan Cayabyab’s Bayanihan Musikahan, a free Facebook Live concert series that aims to raise funds for the country’s most vulnerable communities

Longing to sit inside a packed cinema with your friends again? The next best thing would be to hold a Netflix party with your friends. You can actually get a Google Chrome plugin from the website www.netflixparty.com on your laptop or computer so you can organize a watch party with your buds who are in their own homes. Prepare your snacks, choose a film or show and enjoy watching together while still social distancing.

Do you want to party? DJs—foreign and local, from D-Nice to Bing Austria—have been playing sets on Facebook Live or Instagram Live that you dance along or chill to. Some of them, like DJ Sisko, have turned their sets into a chance to raise funds for those in need.
